Vintage Cupboards As Kitchen Units

Vintage Cupboards as Kitchen Units

Using vintage cupboards as kitchen units makes a lot of sense on many levels: cost saving, eco-friendly, individual, high quality, dramatic, etc.

I'm going to create a freestanding kitchen and mostly use vintage cupboards that I will revamp. Vintage cupboards can be picked up for next to nothing, are often made of solid wood, have lovely decorative features and can help to create a unique look on the tightest of budgets.

There is no rest for the wicket at the weekend but there is a little help from my daughter. She is lightly sanding a vintage cabinet picked up for £20. I've removed the legs as it's going to be a wall unit holding small crockery. I've already put one coat of cream paint onto it and think the second coat will be spring green, finished off with a light touch of hand applied warm gold to the edges.

There is no design in mind....this kitchen is just going to develop bit by bit.

More posts to come on turning vintage cupboards into kitchen units.
